Where you are

You are where the Río Colotepec meets the Pacific, about 6 to 8 km east of central Puerto Escondido. This is not the town — it is a quiet, half-rural stretch with kilometers of open sand and very few people on it.

The estuary behind the beach is full of birds, and the sand here is a sea-turtle nesting beach, roughly from July to December. If you find a nest or a turtle, keep your distance and leave it alone.

It is a place for long walks, early light and quiet. For restaurants, bars and shops, you go into town.
